Alex and Yannick launched Wheeling Forward in 2011, eight years after sharing a room in rehab at New York City’s Mount Sinai Hospital. Since then, the nonprofit has grown into an invaluable resource for thousands of New Yorkers with spinal cord injury and a force for change in the disability community. Wheeling Forward has donated over 350 wheelchairs, transitioned 75+ people out of nursing homes, awarded college scholarships, helped people find their first jobs post-injury, hosted dozens of adaptive sporting events, and much much more.
As NEW MOBILITY’s 2017 People of the Year Alex and Yannick have really shown all of us what it means to live lives of purpose.
